The Glass Is Absolutely Positively Half Full!
The question is always the same is the glass half full or half empty? The weather, your role at work, your team's performance, your relationship with your boss, you name it. It is all the same. It is one of life's most simple and powerful, yet overlooked, opportunities. It is your call half empty or half full? I don't want to encourage anyone to self delude to the point of viewing objectively horrible... (posted by Todd 2 years 279 days ago.)

Leadership Lessons On the Road: 17 Days In a Hotel!
It is now day twelve and I'm growing weary. My wife and I recently sold our house and went for the upgrade. Though we lost our shirt on the sale, we feel we have more than made up the difference with the great buy we just made. However, in an effort to be kind to the couple who bought our home and the family who is moving out of our new home, we needed to stay in a hotel for a total of 17 days. We chose... Dream of Tomorrow Live Today
Dreaming is very important. Ted Turner (creator of CNN, TNT, the Goodwill Games, etc.) was told by his father daily to "dream dreams so big they could not possibly be achieved in your lifetime." Wow. Imagine what Ted Turner was actually dreaming of! Professionals of all stripes need to dream. However, you can't dream so much or so often that you fail to make the most out of today. There is your challenge: dream of tomorrow... (posted by Todd 2 years 279 days ago.)

A Better View of Work-Life Balance
This topic has been all the rage for over a decade now. I think I understand why. Most households are dual income, lots of "latch key" kids, workers and professionals in the US always seem to be among the highest in the world in terms of hours worked per week, etc. Too much work, lots of family issues to contend with, a desire to have what is now an underdeveloped social life. I get it. But is work-life imbalance really... (posted by Todd 2 years 279 days ago.)

Giving Takes Many Forms
I think of at least four key ways of giving when I think about giving in an organizational or professional context. Monetary gifts: Yes, money. People love the stuff. Lots of firms in lots of industries are hurting right now, thus using money as a "thank you" will be more difficult than usual. Good. What most leaders fail to realize is that money is best viewed as a secondary motivator. On to the more important views of... (posted by Todd 2 years 279 days ago.)

Help People Reach Their Creative Potential
Research suggests that many people at work do not live up to their creative potential. Shocking, huh? I personally think the vast majority do reach their potential. Creativity is the fuel that drives the innovation engine. Without it companies stagnate and die. It is true that people have different amounts of creative thinking ability so what! Your goal as a leader is not to make people more creative but to lead... (posted by Todd 2 years 279 days ago.)
